Comment on Sonitrol as verification from Oct 28 2014 article
****************
Ken,
Kyle Chadwick,s comments [Oct 28, 2014] concerning the attributes of the Sonitrol Security system are, up to a point, right on the money. However, he did not address how a Sonitrol dispatch to an alarm is finally verified. If the police cannot get into the building or even through the fence around the building, there can be no sure verification of the alarm incident and it doesn't matter what kind of alarm system is installed. It is essential that someone get inside the building to determine what caused the noise that triggered the alarm.
This means guard response with keys. As a long established key holding and alarm response company, we know that our clients do not want to get up late at night to visit their deserted properties to verify an alarm, or to let the police into their property. They do, however, appreciate the availability of a service that will relieve them of that obligation and provide them with a little peace of mind when that phone call comes late on a cold and stormy night.
Roger Score's comments regarding alarm response in Arizona, generally do not apply here in Connecticut (especially the $25 response fee) but he is correct about the value of that service.
Alarm dealers selling alarm verification to their clients can significantly increase the value of their business through increased RMR.

The Standard Form Agreements - the All in One for residential and commercial - 2 separate forms - provide for Verification service as an option and has a change for the service.  Even though verification is provided by the central station, ostensibly at no charge, the central station is undoubtedly calculating the cost in providing the verification, required by law or not, to determine its expenses and cost of operations, which it passes on to its dealers, one way or another.  Dealers should consider a charge for the verification service.

more on prevailing wage from Oct 22 2014 article
**************
Ken
    Prevailing wage response;
Maybe you guys [Mike & Scott ] need a remedial reading refresher class.   All I stated and provided for the benefit of all was the new classification for prevailing wages as it applies to fire alarm inspections and testing that did not exist as well as the related required benefits and nothing else(a new classification created after a law suit by employees from a very large company).
I was not trying to make any point.  I did not state how or where it applies like you guys indicated I did.   Why shoot the messenger here?   As for the big guy and union statement, Scott remember where you came from, that was the alarm industry first, and at that time you were neither big nor union.   As for Mike, I do not know why he is always complaining and finding fault with just about everything posted here.

another comment on prevailing wage

Ken
Wow  Scott is on a tear about "small" companies.  We do prevailing wage work all the time. Do the work for an individual restaurant owner on the turnpike, Submit your audited payrolls, calculate the wage and do your job.  On the other hand I can't afford to do "big" jobs.
Oh well just a thought.

billing software

Ken
regarding alarm billing software. I have been researching Alcom software. Do you or any of your readers have experience with the Alcom software that they can share? If so, contact me at lpillay@jcsecurity.com.  Thank you in advance for your assistance and for the information provided daily through email communications.

Response:  anyone care to share experience with Alcom?  Alcom is listed on The Alarm Exchange under Technology and Services that increase or preserve your RMR.
