Here is his response. ***** Sprinkler company should do it. Depending on local code, like in NYC, valves can only be worked by licensed sprinkler company. One NYC alarm company had their techs get FDNY Citywise Sprinkler Certificates of Fitness (FDNY does NOT check validity of documentation when applying for a CoF). A year or so later an alarm tech opened a valve not realizing it was actually coming apart and did, flooded several floors and didn't know how to stop the flow. This not to say that all Sprinkler techs are all knowledgeable either. Best to stay within your license parameters and what you are truly knowledgeable about. Verify with your insurance underwriter and see what they have to say about your scope of work and if you will be covered if something goes wrong. If you need more info, or want to continue on this topic let me know. Jeff **************** More response **************** After I asked Jeff to comment on this I realized that K&K is currently defending a case where the alarm tech turned one of two values thinking he was turning off the water flow in the sprinkler system, only to find out when he triggered the alarm the water flow activated, flooding the place. Turns out the valves weren't marked properly, but this case is still pending. Sprinkler service and sprinkler alarms requires two different licenses for a reason. Alarm guys need to stay in their lane, and that applies to the sprinkler guys who need to keep their tech away from the alarm system. There is a reason there are two different All in One agreements: The Fire All in One and the Fire Protection All in One. You need to stay within the confines and scope of the agreement to stay protected. ********************** STANDARD FORMS Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements. click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at ww.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** THE ALARM EXCHANGE - the alarm industries leading classified and business exchange - updated daily ************************* Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
