I used to work for a manufacturer (Interlogix, no longer in business) as a corporate trainer. I had been complaining about being stuck in Canada for the entirety of January while one of my counterparts was doing training classes in Hawaii and Guam, and the other one was doing classes in Florida, Puerto Rico, and the gulf countries. I said "Debbie, I want to go someplace warm, actually, anyplace warm". The very next week Debbie came back to me and told me I was going to Kuwait. This was in January of 1991 during the Kuwait war. My assignment was to train the company that was going to install our security systems in all of the Kuwaiti palaces, government buildings, etc. Now I'm old and fat and am not seeing this as a great idea. I don't run fast and I'd be a really big target. As a trade off, we flew the Kuwaiti company to my home town so I could train them AND be at home for a change (I'd been on continuous training duty for over a year). Win win solution and it was the same dollars either way. About two weeks later I get a call from Kuwait and it's their head technician. He's installing wireless panic buttons and he's not having much success getting them to work in the palace. I said "You better have a couple of repeaters, part number XXXXXXX in your truck or you're never going to make that work. Adding receivers won't fix it, you need repeaters. "But Mr. Dave, you don't understand. This has to work. There are men with very big guns watching my every move." My reply "Well sir, you best have them escort you to your truck while saying silent prayers that you have not only receivers but repeaters on that truck". Thanks for the memories. Sincerely, David Watkins ************************** Response ************************** Thanks for sharing that interesting story. *************************** Ken So surprised that this person did not even mention the ethical dilemma of putting cameras in dressing rooms, bathroom, etc. To me, that would be the biggest issue about the whole thing. Not so much the legal ramifications though those do play a part obviously. Thanks, Todd Neal Priority Systems, Inc ************************** Response ************************** I see it more as legal dilemma, not so much a moral one. The law has established to morality, and consequences for wrongful action do not need to wait for when you meet your maker. ************************** STANDARD FORMS Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at ww.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** THE ALARM EXCHANGE - the alarm industries leading classified and business exchange - updated daily ************************* Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
