Employee productivity at all time low

Ken
Our lead installer comes in Friday after doing his project to inform us there would be NO WAY he could pass the drug test after being at the Jewelry Shop installation.
The business OWNER and all of the contractors were in the back bathroom totting so heavily our guy had issues breathing.
THEY WERE SMOKING WEED AND NOT WORKING!!!
How to destroy a country – just sIt on your ass instead of BEING PRODUCTIVE!!!
          I don’t CARE IF IT IS ‘LEGAL’……..
… *reminded me of the time I would go into apartments to spray for bugs – the college kids would be just setting on their collective asses stoned out of their minds…………..I would then know in a few weeks my father would be at the court house getting eviction paperwork filed as no money to pay the rent!
 Respectfully,
Name withheld

Is this forum becoming the “town crier”?  Feel free to vent your frustration and aggravation and take some solace knowing that most employers share this experience.  The work ethic leaves something to be desired.
But hard-working and loyal workers are out there.  Don’t despair; keeping looking.
By the way, alarm techs don’t really need to pass drug tests.  Either they are impaired or not.  In fact, if you have an employee who is unable to do his job you’re probably better off not knowing or confirming that drug addiction or any other protected disability is to blame.
The Standard Form Employment Contract is an “at will” employment agreement and that means you can terminate an employee for any or no reason, and that may be the best way to get it done rather than getting into a battle of whether you can or should terminate the employee; One exception that comes to mind, Montana, where you need to have a good reason to terminate.
Every employee should sign an Employment Agreement; the good, bad and ugly ones.
