I have over 48 years of both technical and operations hands on experience and expertise in this industry and hold many industry certifications and tenured professional association memberships with a background and industry passion very similar to Jeff plus an industry educator for well over 30 years. What we have most in common is our passion, broad and deep understanding plus in depth industry knowledge including the many different listings, codes and standards that have evolved and grown over the years and which were all originally developed and updated to make sure that compliance with them would provide the greatest probability that an intrusion or fire alarm system will function as intended and that is the bottom line. Remember that these standards were put together by all stakeholders in the industry and when it comes to fire Life Safety Specialists and code enforcers there is no room for error. I am in 100% agreement with both Jeff and Merton Bunkers observations since I know their not only credible but the fact is I also created the exact same test and had the same result. Industry should be thanking Jeff and Merton instead of critiquing them or ignoring this. I kind of equate this to what Ralph Nader went thru many years ago to improve automobile safety My two cents.
