Ken,
I was retained in just such a case:  Ringley vs. neighbor.
November 30, 2017, Retained by the plaintiff; an individual and his wife, seeking the court’s relief from his next door neighbor aiming cameras into the plaintiff’s waterfront residential property. During this investigation, it was discovered that one of the cameras had a powerful infrared emitter and zoom lens that afforded the viewer a full screen image of the plaintiff’s upstairs rear master bedroom sliding glass door and the bedroom beyond. Using this investigator’s photos, measurements and equipment identification findings, plaintiff received a favorable ruling from the court.

In Lloyd's case it looks like only the neighbor was sued, not the installing alarm company, assuming it was installed by an alarm company.
The camera with the zoom lens seems inappropriate and if the installer was sued it might be indefensible why that camera was used.  This type of case should require an  expert like Lloyd to testify regarding the characteristics of the camera.
The K&K agreements do provide that the end user must use all security equipment lawfully but it may not be enough if the conduct is eggregious enough.
