Ken
Regarding Kevin’s question about fire alarm drawings on July 25, 2022. The answer depends on where you are located.  Some AHJ’s require hard copies while others require PDF files.  More and more AHJ’s are going electronic with PDFs.
In NYS, the Building & Fire Codes do not address the format for drawing submittals but leave it to the AHJ for interpretation.  Here is what the IBC says:
          907.1.1 Construction Documents
Construction documents for fire alarm systems shall be of sufficient clarity to indicate the location, nature and extent of the work proposed and show in detail that it will conform to the provisions of this code, the Building Code of New York State and relevant laws, ordinances, rules and regulations, as determined by the fire code official.
          907.1.2 Fire Alarm Shop Drawings
Shop drawings for fire alarm systems shall be prepared in accordance with NFPA 72 and submitted for review and approval prior to system installation.
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS. The written, graphic and pictorial documents prepared or assembled for describing the design, location and physical characteristics of the elements of the project necessary for obtaining a permit.
My suggestion, call the AHJ and ask what their requirements are.  They are usually helpful and will point you in the direction of any documents with submittal requirements. Also note that some towns and villages have their own codes (called More Restrictive Local Standards MRLS) which can exceed and supplement State requirements.   We have built a library of documents for the areas where we provide design work.  That is our first go-to place on any project. I hate surprises.
