Hosted by Ken Kirschenbaum ***************************** another comment on more comment on test signals failing to communicate **************************** Ken, I love the bantering between attorney, central station and dealer. I need to chime in as it relates to insurance. Having the correct insurance policy is key. Whether you are a central station or an alarm dealer, you need to have general liability AND professional (E&O) liability insurance. Legal contracts are going to help get you out of a claim, but it is the insurance that is ultimately going to be paying the defense costs and liability damages. If you don’t have alarm specific insurance, you could be paying the bill yourself. The majority of the liability exposure is on the dealer. The dealer is making the majority of the money. The central station is typically only receiving 5-10% of the revenue the dealer is receiving. Therefore, the dealer should be taking on most of the liability. That is why the contracts are more in favor of the central stations. Come visit Ken and/or myself in Vegas at ISC West. Schedule a one-on-one appointment or book the “insurance group discussion” where we will go into more detail on the proper insurance needed as well as the latest trends affecting your insurance premiums and coverages. Contact Kathleen Lampert to schedule. Sincerely, Shawn Iverson The Insurance Center 801-622-2626 ************************* Response ************************* Shawn is the leading insurance broker servicing the alarm industry. He is conducting a group meeting on insurance at ISC and scheduling private meetings with you at ISC. Call Kathleen [516 747 6700 x 319] in my office to reserve a time. Shawn's company, The Insurance Center, is listed on The Alarm Exchange in the insurance category. E&O coverage is essential in the alarm industry. There are just too many claims and they are expensive to defend. Carrying the E&O coverage is one of the necessary things you need for not only best practices, but survival. Like other contingencies you insurance against, it's usually "when" not "if" you're going to have to call upon the coverage one day. There is a serious problem when you don't carry E&O coverage, and it goes beyond the insurance. No insurance usually means no contracts, no accounting, no licensing, no employment compliance, no taxes compliance, no business that can be sold. OK, maybe that's a bit extreme, but it a sign of bad judgment. It's no secret that I push Security America, and hopefully Shawn will find that its the best choice for you. Look beyond premium. You get the insurance for the potential claim, and that's when it really counts. Use a company with a proven track record for defending claims, defending and caring about the alarm industry. Shawn is also a nice guy besides being knowledgeable. But tell him I sent you, he'll be especially nice. ************************ STANDARD FORMS Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements. click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at ww.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** THE ALARM EXCHANGE - the alarm industries leading classified and business exchange - updated daily ************************* Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
