ANOTHER BATHROOM / BEDROOM CAMERA PLACEMENT ISSUE
*************************
Ken,
We have a customer whose wife has Alzheimer’s and he is asking us to install cameras throughout his home, so he can keep an on her and her help while he is out of the house. Most of the cameras will be located in general living areas, however, he is also asking us to install cameras in the master bedroom and master bathroom. The camera would not be covert, but I know the general rule is that cameras should not be installed in areas where people expect privacy. How would you advise us to move forward with this? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Use the Residential All in One.  In the Schedule of Equipment and Services, and also in the Disclaimer Notice, add "subscriber has been advised to use cameras and audio devices lawfully".
I suppose there is a good argument that this same provision should be added to the Standard Form Agreements, but when you are installing in an area where there is a specific prohibition, the bathroom, I think the disclaimer needs to be more conspicuous and perhaps specific.
Regarding this bathroom installation, I am opining that you can do the installation because it is a private residence.  And, in this case, the subscriber has offered a plausible reason for the system.  My opinion would be different if this was a commercial premises or if you knew that the private home was used as a rental for the owner and the occupants were intended to be tenants or visitors.
