He wants me to put pin hole cameras in the vent of the cars, video and audio. He doesn’t want the driver or passenger(s)or anyone to know. Is this legal? If so, what documents should I have him sign to protect me? Thanks, Sal ************************** Response ************************** Maybe he will let you use his face on the front page photo in your town when you and the limo owner get arrested or sued or both. At the very least you should get him to share the videos. Seriously, you need to pass on this job. I can understand a limo owner’s concern for the vehicle and wanting accountability for the driver and guests in the car. But that is not achieved by pin-hole cameras, whatever they are. I assume these are covert cameras with audio. The audio would be illegal in all states. No-one in the car is going to know about the audio. The video would likely be illegal in many states because it’s covert and because the guests, and driver in his compartment, should have a reasonable expectation of privacy. I’m not even comfortable with signs warning occupants of the cameras and audio because not every one reads English, not every one reads and not every-one is observant enough to see the signs. If you want to know how the cameras and audio could be lawfully used, and also avoid civil lawsuits for invasion of privacy, you would have to get written consent to the surveillance. It would have to be written clearly and it would have to detail not only the surveillance but how the data could and would be used. This is inconsistent with the limo owner’s intention to spy on unsuspecting drivers and guests. ************************** To order up to date Standard Form Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at ww.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** THE ALARM EXCHANGE - the alarm industries leading classified and business exchange - updated daily ************************* Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
