I have a burglar alarm company in New Jersey. A customer tried to cancel. We enforced the contract and sent her a termination contract with a termination fee if she cancels. She got upset and wrote a bad review of my company on the internet. Is there a way to have that removed and how should I have responded to that? Please advise.

It's very hard, if not impossible to get a comment removed from the Internet. The Internet providers, search engines and web site owners generally disclaim any responsibility for posting fair comment. You can have obviously inflamatory postings removed by contact the web site, though it's an uphill battle and most likely you are going to be told that only the person who posts the comment can take it down. As unsettling as it is, keep in mind that most of your subscribers and potential subscribers are not going to see the posting and after a few days may have even less chance of finding it.
If you believe that you've been defamed then you can notify the poster that you intend to sue for defamation. Threatening the web site will probably be a waste of effort.
I had a collection case for an alarm company; we got a judgment and were aggressive trying to enforce it. The subscriber posted a U-Tube video that was, to say the least, not complimentary. We sued the subscriber to compel him to take down the video and for damages. Eventually the posting was taken down. U-Tube couldn't have cared less.

We drop customers due to compliance companies because they require you to sign vendor agreements that often remove your liability protection. Many also refuse to pay a higher cost to cover the compliance company fee. Apartments are very high liability and we refuse to put our company at risk by agreeing to their vendor agreements. If they are willing to pay the additional cost and their agreements are reasonable, we keep them. It seems that many companies simply agree without even reading what they are giving up when they sign. We've had a lawyer look at the agreements before we sign.

My local Alma Mater has contacted me for many years to take in interns in our and related fields, on a paid or unpaid basis. However, some of these individuals would be working on IT projects, burglar alarms, door to door sales, telemarketing etc., basically anything that our state does not require a license for. Is there a suggested way to protect our intern, our company, and our customers while using these individuals. Are they treated as a independent contractor? non-payed employee? other? . I have no previous experience in the intern area so any and all suggestions are welcome from you and other companies.

You indicate that the interns are being assigned tasks that do not require any alarm license. If they also don't require any registration or certification for tasks they are performing then your answer is obvious. If an intern is performing any task that would require any type of license or registration or training if performed by an employee, then the intern should be treated as an employee, even though unpaid. All of the reasons for requiring registration or licensing of employees would naturally apply to interns if they are performing the tasks. For example, if your state wants door to door salesmen, or installers, registered [and screened by fingerprints] then you shouldn't be putting interns in the position of performing those tasks and avoiding the licensing laws.
On the other hand, if the intern merely accompanies a licensed or registered employee then no license may be required. I would suggest they have some ID identifying them as interns so there is no confusion, especially if any license is required.
