I was informed that the word on the ‘street’ is that the fine folks at Potter are going the direction that Honeywell has gone, putting software within the fire alarm panels that allows the MANUFACTURE to now go DIRECT to the customer and pick up the monitoring. Just when I thought it was safe to wake up after being awake during the night worrying about a particular customer who has an issue. I am GLAD we switched from BOSCH to VES / Hochiki!. I wonder if DMP will ever want to work with AES instead of mandating the use of the DMP cell option? Are there other ‘ol timers’ out there who remember the Card Key days – if the mfg. found out who the customer was going to be, they would undercut the alarm dealer; gee, wonder why they are not around anymore??? Guess Honeywell did not have anyone who remembered those days!!! Manufacturers have been moving to the RMR model by requiring their devices to pass data through their receivers on the way to the central stations. By providing the portal they are earning their keep, so to speak.
