Comment on SIAC and associations from article on November 25, 2024

Ken
I agree with your recent comments on the importance of individuals in our industry getting involved with their local alarm associations. However, it is also important for our industry to financially support SIAC, as it plays a key role in helping state and local alarm associations be effective in their government relations efforts.
Here in Washington State, SILSA NW – Security, Integration & Life Safety Association has organized a response to Seattle’s sudden announcement to stop responding to most alarm calls.
SIAC offered invaluable assistance by offering expertise, conducting research, managing social media, issuing news releases, handling media relations, and supplying background information and case studies demanded by public officials who were asked to reconsider a decision negatively impacting 75,000 industry customers.
Developing this background and expertise on our own would have put us at a great disadvantage, as time was of the essence in getting the attention of elected officials, our customers and the media to this critical issue.
SIAC’s collaboration with national and state law enforcement leadership has been crucial in promoting effective alarm management policies that facilitate police response and have avoided similar issues to the one we are facing in Seattle nationwide.
If you visit SIACINC.org, you will find that industry leaders, including major corporations and some of the most successful entrepreneurs in our industry, are actively supporting SIAC’s efforts.
