Comment on banned equipment from article on November 15, 2021
Just FYI in case you would like to share with all. I am currently in Juarez, Mexico, and at my airBnb there is a Huawei wifi router. Some of my home-based server accounts/sites in USA I could access, however when I tried to access my life insurance company’s website/account, my site access was blocked as a security threat. I had to use my cellular data to access the website.
A security company/software called “cloudflare” manages their site and apparently was blocking access via “banned” company/hardware.
In the long run, using banned equipment could be commercially fatal.
The message read: “Access denied”…“ This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks.”…”  Performance & security by   Cloudflare
Best Regards,
Mark Michael Dooda
Hope you enjoyed your vacation; you’re probably home by now and back to work.  It’s pretty apparent that use of the banned equipment creates problems both you and your customer’s don’t need.  This is not likely to be an issue that gets resolved soon.  Seems prudent to look into alternative equipment.  Anyone have any recommendations?

Some information that might be useful to your readers:
-In March, the FCC added Hikvision and Dahua to "a list of communications equipment and services that have been deemed a threat to national security", citing them as an "unacceptable" risk.
-Last Thursday, President Biden signed the Secure Equipment Act ordering the FCC to ban future authorizations for Hikvision and Dahua. Equipment without FCC authorizations would be impermissible even for private projects.

More on Jon Sargent from article on November 13, 2021
I would like to express my appreciation Jto Jon Sargent who’s philanthropy and good will transcended the industry for which he toiled tirelessly. BTW, we are not related though we share the same last name.
I met Jon Sargent in California some years ago when I was travelling for Keltron to the CAFAA Show in Palm Springs regularly. He has or had at the time the “Sargent” book from the early days of the Sargent’s in America which he painstakingly copied and shared with me.  Alas, one on my late Father’s brothers can’t recall borrowing it
so I no longer have it but I will always remember Jon reaching out to me
and sharing a precious historical reference with personal relevance.
It was a pleasure to have met and spoken with Jon and an honor to be
able to say: Yes – I know Jon Sargent.
I tip my hat to Jon Sargent who for me will always represent the best of what the industry and the Sargent’s can offer the world.
     Thank you Jon
 Best regards,
Steve Sargent, Vice President Sales and Engineering
