No law exists to stop anyone from buying the blanks and making as many copies as they wish. Originally certain key ways and associated key blanks like Medeco had a utility patent that expires after 17 years. Most of the older “BEST” keyways allow you to order blanks with “unlawful to duplicate this key” stamped on them, it’s all about creating an illusion that they are somehow illegal to copy. Not sure if he offers any specials to those buying life safety services from him. Unnecessary warnings in emails, or in contracts, may not have legal consequences but I suppose do deter bad behavior, like disseminating an email that someone gets by mistake. There are lots of provisions in the contracts that can probably be eliminated or updated. These would be the non-legal provisions that address the technology. For those changes I need your feed-back. So when you get the new contracts be sure to let me know what might need to be updated. I did remove "foil" some time ago, but we still mention telephone lines and CCTV systems and probably lot of other things. K&K is planning on being in Las Vegas though it's a little early to schedule group and private meetings. I am looking forward to it. Before then we have ISC East in November and K&K will be scheduling private meetings soon. Last year we were so packed we will probably do two days this year.
