            In my mind it's very simple. Simplisafe is a marketing genius. Just like Harley Davidson, you don't need the best product, you just have to have the best marketing.

            I don’t know about Harley Davidson.  I do know about “brand name” products selling for ridiculous prices and no doubt marketing makes the product, creates the demand and permits the higher pricing.  “Status symbols” come with a price and while there may be a difference in quality, I suspect sometimes there isn’t.
            I am not aware of any SimpliSafe product or services that sets SimpliSafe apart from other alarm dealers offering similar products and services.  Maybe a few of the alarm experts would care to offer their opinion on quality and price justification, or why one alarm monitoring company should stand out from another.
            I happen to think that the alarm industry owes a “thank you” to both ADT and SimpliSafe for their massive advertising.  That advertising creates an awareness among the public for the need for home or commercial security.  Of course many seeing the advertisements are going to call the advertised product first, but plenty decide to shop around and compare, pricing for sure, hopefully reputation and services. 
    BTW, I was posting this for circulation and realized, last minute, that there is definitely one brand name worthy of its reputation, Kirschenbaum Contracts, and the contracts are reasonably priced, cheap in fact.
