Try and you might to avoid thinking about it, business is on your mind, particularly if you have younger family in the business waiting for their turn to take the reins. With all the hedge funds circling around like vultures, paying above market in many cases, it's appropriate for you to be wondering if there is going to be a place for you and the family business you've built or are building. This struggle between the huge nationwide businesses and the family owned, the large nationwide operation, often public or hedge fund backed, versus the small corporation. This same issue has no doubt been a source of concern for the small corporation since the late 1800s in this country. Yet, the small corporation, the family business, persists and manages to compete, and often quite well. Small businesses understand the meaning of customer service, because you can't survive in a competitive business without that. It's something the large companies have simply forgotten or can no longer offer their customers. Employees, even yours, do not have the same commitment as you do, if you're successful. There is something to be said for hands-on owner-operated business. Of course not everyone is cut out for it; you have to be willing to work hard, sacrifice, endure uncertainty, ups and downs, but if you do have what it takes success is your reward. Not only do you have the satisfaction of knowing that you built your business but as Frank Sinatra said, you get to do it your way. Success, at least financial success, comes in many ways. Not everyone has the desire or need to conquer the world; satisfaction has many levels and those that set goals, make appropriate adjustments, and achieve those goals, achieve at least one essential component to success, even financial success, happiness and contentment with what they have and what they have achieved. I deal with alarm businesses that range in value from under $100,000 to the tens of millions. Just about every owner is proud of what they have achieved, even those with inflated ideas and expectations once they hear reality. Today is a good time to reflect on your plans, goals and achievements and assess your satisfaction level. Those of you still young enough to make adjustments, re-align, should implement those steps immediately, not wait another year or decade. There is still time to adopt "best practices", which I suppose coincide with higher goals and achievement, success. In the next month take the time to give some thought to what you've achieved, where you want to end up and how you're going to get there. For my part, K&K remains committed to providing the best legal services it can to both large and small companies in the electronic security, fire and premises protection business. The Standard Contracts and Forms continue to be updated and made available at "mass market" prices, yet customized for each of you. The Concierge Program has proven itself to be valuable to both large and small clients, but particularly smaller clients who would not otherwise be able to afford the best legal services in the industry. As for K&K competitors, well if you think a 100 to 2000 attorney nationwide law firm is a better choice for you, then go for it; K&K will be here when you realize your mistake, even before you figure it out. ***************************** STANDARD FORM AGREEMENTS: To order up to date Standard Form Alarm / Security / Fire and related Agreements click here: www.alarmcontracts.com *************************** CONCIERGE LAWYER SERVICE PROGRAM FOR THE ALARM INDUSTRY - You can check out the program and sign up here: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/concierge or contact our Program Coordinator Stacy Spector, Esq at 516 747 6700 x 304. *********************** WEBINARS: https://www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-webinars *********************** ALARM ARTICLES: You can always read our Articles on our website at www.kirschenbaumesq.com/page/alarm-articles updated daily ******************** Wondering how much your alarm company is worth?
