They both have partnered with the central station monitoring companies in the RMR stream, but not for free, as we do the billing and collections for their services, but they allow us margins to cover our costs plus some for this service. All of the other manufacturers do not, even though they require the central stations to create interfaces to receive and support their functionality and pay fees to support these connections through licenses based on the number of accounts. Out of mutual respect for Resideo and M2M we have adopted the following, for Resideo a pledge that we will not charge above their suggested dealer pricing levels while many of our competitors charge more for M2M, we figuratively give away these transmitters for free (before any tariffs) and only charge $5.00 for mini's and $8.00 for commercial fire per month. The only RF communicator manufacturer that doesn't charge fees based on usage or subscription is AES, which we support as well, and should be noted we have never experienced a sunset issue with them over 30 years being deployed. USA also employs a former AES employee to manage the networks connected to our offices. As for all the others, we look at them a lot like dial up POTs line providers; if the signals don't get here the dealer has to call that service provider they choose to correct the issues and like everything else there are always issues. Some manufacturers, like Napco for example, require their devices to transmit data through manufacturer's portal and receivers, then the signals are transmitted to the central station. Alarm.com is another manufacturer that does this. Both of these companies do have products vital to the alarm industry, vital in the sense that they are superior products and provide superior services. One manufacturer's business model isn't better or worse than the other, though one distinction I think that is important is the manufacturer who works through the industry by restricting it's product and services to alarm dealers, not directly to customers, and those that are willing to cut out the alarm dealers from the RMR; the latter are in direct competition with the alarm dealers and I have no idea why an alarm dealer would offer those products.
