Comment on getting contract signed and looking to get out of alarm business

            Ken
This is In response to "Looking forward to getting out of this business" [your article on October 29, 2020].  As you know I am the Executive Claims Manager for Security America, and I’ve learned quite a bit about claims, the importance if E&O coverage and the significance of how claims are handled; it makes me wonder and ask the following
  *  Who is his insurance carrier
  *  Does his policy include E&O and is considered an industry standard policy for the business he is in
  *  What representations did he make on his application and subsequent renewals
  *  What verbal representations did he make to the agent or underwriter
  *  Did he submit and make a direct representation that the KK standard agreement is what his customers are signing?
  *  What are his policy coverage limits
  *  Does his policy have a contract guarantee
Switching hats, I get to apply my knowledge of shifting the allocation of risk between alarm dealer and customers for my dealers.  In my central station business (USA Central Station Alarm Corp, a third-party company) I routinely negotiate on behalf of my dealers and USA with property management companies regarding the allocation of risk provisions;  I have a 99% close rate. Lately it has been easier to get full acceptance of your Standardized Contracts [which make all the difference] because of the volatility in the streets and the uncertainty of local governments over police funding and maintaining order. I simply state that in these times of uncertainty we are unwilling to accept the additional risks they are asking us to take.
While my assistance to my dealers may seem competitive with your Concierge Program, your Program is a great value and for this reason alone should be subscribed to by all alarm companies that have issues with the contracts, which is likely all alarm companies.
