SUBS AND ALARM COMPANIES WHO DONT CARE ABOUT FALSE ALARMS, FINES OR WASTING COPS TIME [IN RESPONSE TO ARTICLE ON OCT 3, 2016]
***********************
Ken,
Apparently there are some who do not think that there are companies out there (other than the ones I deal with on planet Phoenix) that have a nonchalant attitude about their false alarms or treat paying false alarm fees as just part of doing business.  Like I explained, that this was the other end of the spectrum from the penny pinching DIY folks.  Obviously not all companies and especially not small mom & pops or medium companies that watch every dime.
Maybe the people who think I’m out of touch have never had a big box national retail subscriber as one of their customers that admitted that they have a ten thousand dollar per year false alarm budget or a major financial institution that thinks they are entitled to roll PD because they have “special” circumstances.  Then there are those who are arrogant enough to tell me they could care less how many times PD gets dispatched because they pay taxes or construction sites who say it is cheaper to get a real cop to drive by the site every time the alarm goes off rather than hire a security patrol / rent a cop to sit there and sleep.  I thought about writing another 600+ word blog with some of my favorite stories about the subscribers who treat alarms as “just the cost of doing business” but that takes too long and can’t do them justice.
My daily job is looking at the problem subscribers and I get to see the worst of the worst false alarm trends from across all types of subscribers, installations, central stations and alarm companies.  I have been looking at everybody’s dirty laundry for over 12 years.  If your company has never had any dirty laundry, congratulations, keep up the good work.
Anyone can call me if they want to ask about dirty laundry and have some time to listen.  (don’t panic, I won’t use real names)  I had a nice conversation this morning with John Haenn from Concord Communications Group.  We shared a few stories and I got to hear about his funniest video story.  Give him a call!
    Thanks,
Robbie
