Residential and Commercial All in One Contracts /  Who Files Permits

January 29, 2013

Question

Ken

I'm new to the alarm industry.   Does the permits get filed by my company or the alarm owner?

Another question, home automation, does the services like connect24 interactive or

iremote/isee video use the All in One contract?

Municipalities generally impose the obligation to file permits on the contractor, and that is what you can expect to have to do.  Some permits require prior approval before the work is performed and others are more like a registration where the municipality is notified that the alarm has been installed.  Though you will file the initial permit or registration, renewals will be the obligation of the end user, and the associated fees are the responsibility of the end user.

The systems that permit the subscriber to remotely access the system, to view cameras, arm or disarm, or activate or deactivate any other integrated device, is covered by the Subscriber Enabled Monitoring Service Contract.  Bare in mind that this contract does not provide for central station monitoring.  The All in One, now referred to as the Residential All in One, does provide for the subscriber's remote access as one of the features, but this contract also covers all of the other security equipment and services that are customarily available to a residential subscriber.

Previously there was no separate all in one for commercial use.  You were using the All in One, which is designed and suitable for residential subscriber use.  There is now a comprehensive Commercial All in One, which covers all of the security systems customarily offered to commercial subscribers.  For example, it not only covers intrusion installation and monitoring, guard response, service and inspection, but access contract administration, CCTV, Streaming Video Data services and remote access.  What it doesn't cover is commercial fire,  For that you need the Fire All in One.
