Question:

Hi Jennifer,

How do I calculate the workweek?  I am trying to work on my overtime situation with employees.

Thanks,
Dr. L

Answer:

Under Federal law, the workweek means a fixed and regularly recurring period of 168 hours — seven consecutive 24-hour periods. This period does NOT have to coincide with the calendar week and it may begin on any day and at any hour of the day. Different workweeks may be established for different employees or groups of employees.  And no, you cannot average out hours over one week from the next.  168 continuous, contiguous, consecutive hours!
