ELECTRONIC SIGNATURES
*********************
Ken,
The other day Mitch asked you about electronic signatures. The company I am a part of has begun to use DocuSign for our contracts & monitoring agreements. We find it is a simple way to get the documents signed without traveling long distances to clients. Have you seen any problems with this?
Thanks,
Tre Brickley

CENTRAL STATION REQUESTING NOTICE AND RIGHT TO CURE BREACH
*********************
Ken
I was reading the contract my central station uses and they had this clause. Do you recommend this should be part of an alarm services contract, it seems to make sense?
"RIGHT TO CURE. In the event of any breech of this agreement by X the Customer agrees to provide written notice by certified mail return receipt specifically identifying the nature of the breech and the provisions of this agreement affected, and give X 5 business days to cure the breach or actively work on the breach until cured after written notice is received. If cured this agreement shall continue unabated and X shall not be liable to Customer for any loss, damage or expense arising from or related to, in connection with or as a consequence of any said breech."
Thank You

Your central station needs to learn how to spell, though I shouldn't be the one to point that out.  This provision standing alone isn't offensive, but more information on the "agreement" is needed because some breaches should not require any notice and should not permit any right to cure.  If the breach is egregious enough you should be able to terminate the agreement and go elsewhere.  This right to cure is the least of your problems or issues when contracting with a central station.  Make sure it is using our Dealer Agreement so you see all the important issues right on the front page.

TWO BURGLAR CONVICTIONS IN CALIFORNIA THIS WEEK THAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION
*************************
In one California case, the burglar alarm signal went to central who then dispatched the cops.  Burglars were caught down the street driving away with a stolen television in their truck.  The theft was confirmed by neighbors who saw them remove the TV from the house.

In another case from California a burglar broke into a restaurant and stole 10 bottles of wine.  The restaurant's CCTV recorded the break in and when viewed a cop recognized the burglar.  Conviction followed [no discussion on if or how the video was admitted - I think there was plea].
