Ken,
Re: self-contained alarm systems; there used to be a product on the market called "tattletale".
I believe it was first marketed to the industry and then they went DIY.  The unit had a self-contained Control Panel, motion detector, and cellular radio transmitter in one self-contained unit.  Think they are still doing this but perhaps strictly on a DIY basis.
Hope this helps,-

That's the one, thanks.  Not sure how popular it is, but there it is.

Home Automation

Ken,
I have been reading your newsletter for a little while now and have some questions on Home Automation.
First, I am waiting for my burglar and fire alarm license application to be approved by NY State and would like to know if I could start my company just doing home automation with no security until I get the license then add in security to my product offerings.
Second I saw that you have an home automation contract for sale. What does that include?
Third, If i want to sell across state lines either DIY home automation products or security products, how does that work and what would I need to do that?
Thank you,
Michael T

You can't do any work in a residence without some license, so if you don't have the alarm license then you'll need a home improvement license or some other license.  Wait to be licensed.
The Home Automation and Integration Agreement covers that kind of equipment and systems, other than security.  If you don't know what it is, you're not ready to sell and install it.
Residential agreements are generally designed for use in a single state because each state has some different contract requirements.  When you get our Residential All in One for one state we will provide additional states at half price.  If you're in all the states then you should consider the Nationwide form, which you get by calling our Contract Administrator Eileen Wagda 516 747 6700 x 312 or email EWagda@KirschenbaumEsq.com
