The Fire All in One has been updated. The prior versions provided that the central station had the discretion to disregard a signal if it reasonably believed that it was a false alarm. The change removes that option and simply provides that upon receipt of a fire alarm signal the central station will contact the appropriate fire department. This is consistent with UL and AHJ requirements for fire alarm monitoring.

Discretion to disreguard a signal is permitted for non fire alarm signals, such as intrusion. I'd like to thank Dennis Stern, Esq. for bringing this to my attention.

Prior versions of the Fire All in One do not need to be resigned. Even though the contract permits discretion the central stations understand the monitoring requirements and should dispatch. To be prudent, you can check with your central station and ask for confirmation and a copy of its operating procedures for alarm response. How a central station responds is your concern because it's your subscriber, and you're very likely to be the one who the subscriber looks to if there is a problem.

Not only will the central station dispatch upon receipt of a signal, the fire department, once it receives the signal and begins its response, will not turn around. The fire department will respond to the premises and most likely enter. If it's a false alarm hopefully someone will be there to let them in.

I am sure there are plenty of horror stories about fire department response to false alarms. Anyone have one to share?
