Sonitrol systems have audio detectors. Chelly ********************* Response ********************** I believe the technology permits the operator to do at home whatever they could do at their in-house station. Maybe some central stations would like to comment. ********************** Overloaded circuits ********************** Ken, Question, Yesterday my central experienced a couple of concerns from dealers indicating they received a busy tone when calling into our central station. We later found it due to the increase of remote workers working from home? Has anyone else experienced this and do they have any alternative solutions to the issue/concern coming from dealers and customers? Jessica ********************* Response ********************** Outside my area of expertise. Better be resolved quickly though before you do need my expertise. ********************** Comments on Sandy Springs from article on March 7, 2020 ********************** Ken Hurray and Kudos to John W. Yusza. In that last line of his post, he's said it all !!!!! "No matter what you legislate …… you can't fix stupid." Gene Reliable Alarm **************** Ken, Re Sandy Springs and Lee Jones. Sounds to me that Lee needs to go back to elementary school and be re-educated in basic math and taking responsibility for your actions. One false alarm per year would be 100% false alarms per year. If you make a mess ….. clean it up. That is, if you're the one who caused the false alarm you should take responsibility for it, One plus one equals two ------ Lee. You don't happen to work for CNN do you? Gene Reliable Alarm *************** Cs compliance issue **************** Ken Great Webinar on March 20, 2020 among the central stations. Very impressed with the proactive adjustments that our Central Stations have taken to continue with great services under our Pandemic challenges. My monitored account base includes U.L. monitored jewelry stores which raises a question concerning Central Station U.L. Certifications. The dispatchers working from homes that don’t have backup utilities and various other U.L. Standards might jeopardize U.L. Certifications. If a dispatcher action is interrupted by loss of power or communications that could jeopardize a timely response to a burglary or fire signal action, should I be concerned? Do I need to notify my accounts of the monitoring infrastructure changes? What about my insurance protections? Should U.L. monitored accounts be restricted to live Central Station interaction? I have been an Alarm installer & Qualified Manager for well over 3 decades without a single lawsuit and feel this Pandemic is not going to keep my company whole after the Pandemic ends. I am already losing accounts from deaths, bankruptcies, cancellations, and non-payment of services. I can’t even take customers to court, until they open back up for business. So, I guess my concern meter is keeping me alert to any potential liabilities that I or my counterparts may not have considered. Lots of things to think about every day in between washing my hands so many times and not touching my face. I desperately want to get back to normalcy. Everyone stay safe, Fred Mellenbruch Smart Alarm ******************* Response ******************* It would be prudent to notify your subscribers that monitoring procedures may have changed as a result of remote monitoring or reduced in-house staffing, though I believe central stations will tell you that subscribers should not be experiencing any difference in services [a good thing in most instances]. Can’t hurt to notify subscribers that this crisis has caused some difficulty; something they probably know. With the Standard Form Agreements you do have the right to suspend service, or terminate service, even without notice, if the central station is unable to provide monitoring. That is not, at the moment, the case. ***************** Reaching K&K during the lockdown ********************** During this crisis the most efficient way to reach our attorneys is via email.
